Buying/Leasing with no Hitches by Walt E. Ingalls
(March 30th, 2015)
The process of buying a new car can be saturated in correspondence, where as you thought you were just seeking a car, the process can be more negotiating than just making a decision. It’s called “Salesmanship” and so far as I know, there’s only one way to avoid it, and that’s www.DealerPinch.com.
If you want to avoid the pitches, the negotiating, and the haggle, you’ll most likely want to avoid the dealerships and their showroom staff. Not that they are bad or difficult people, just that you’re there for a car and not to be pressured into a sale that doesn’t suit you.
My suggestion for you is to read up about the car that suits you best, and from there study three things about that car in particular: the MSRP, the Invoice Price and the average paid.
The manufacturer establishes both the MSRP and the Invoice Price, and though we are led to believe the Invoice Price is what the dealer pays the manufacturer, it is not always, as volume discounts and other incentives are not reflected in this price.
I recommend when making your offer, discount some 6.5%-7% off of the MSRP. It may not be taken serious by the salesperson, because he’s looking to walk out with his own profit, but as far as DealerPinch.com, it may be exactly what you get, as you’ll be circumventing the salesmen and dealing directly with the management.
The simple fact of the matter is, some dealers move more volume than others and it costs money to move a car from one dealership that has a certain model but their area is not too interested in, to another dealership where it may be in a higher demand. Also if the salesmen are not particularly recommending that model because the dealership doesn’t have a selection of that model to choose from; they tend to direct the client to models they have a variety in stock.
These are two prime reasons why DealerPinch.com can be so great for you, the difference in price from one dealership to the next for the very same model can literally be thousands, just because of their client’s interests and the volume of each particular model. DealerPinch.com submits your terms on your particular model to a variety of dealerships in your area. If you were to do all the leg work, it would be literally up to over a dozen inquiries to up to over a dozen dealerships—which can be very time consuming. The out-come is a response based on the dealership’s current stock, whether high volume or one lonely duck sitting in the back of the lot—the perfect car for you, Your Car. Your Price.
“Gone are the days where you, the customer, are not in charge of the terms and conditions of your lease. Here at DealerPinch, you get exactly what you want, or expand your search perameters to include different options, and save even more money. You set your price, and Dealerpinch sends your offer to multiple Dealerships. Once a dealer has accepted your offer, you will be provided the Dealerships information to pick up your car.”
2 Door Coupes by Walt E. Ingalls
(April 1st, 2015)
There are so many desirable couples on the market today, it’s rather difficult to narrow the search down. If I had the room in one article to mention them all, it would be the length of a small book, so this article, I’ll name a few that really stand out to me.
One of the best 2-door coupes I’ve seen this year is the Mercedes-Benz SLK, weighing in with a 415 hp 5.5L V8. There’s something about the edgy yet comfortable layout of the interior and trim, setting it out in a class of its own, and let’s not forget, enough get up to get up out of anywhere with a quickness.
Next, I’m listing the Corvette Stingray with a 455 hp 6.2-liter V-8, and a seven-speed manual transmission that pushes the car to an awing 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds. This model has had tuning to the transmission that gives it a closer ratio, plus it has within, an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, and more aggressive suspension making it a monster to get by under the gun.
The 2015 Audi S5 is a car full of class and finely tuned performance. The 333 hp V6 is a supercharged 3.0L operating an all-wheel drive Quattro. It should be seriously respected and never overlooked, for the very minute the road surface seems difficult to others, this Audi excels.
The 6 Series BMW is not to be overlooked either. This car packs a considerable amount of comfort and being a 6-cylinder 3.0L, it has 315 hp and is a certain challenger when is comes to the road and the wallet, for the Coupe gets as much as 31 mpg.
The Porsche 911, to some, is without a doubt the most beautiful coupe ever summonsed to the road. The 911 holds its presence with 430 hp roaring out from its 3.8L V6. This car demands respect, and as far as Porsche goes, is the benchmark for success. According to Wikipedia, “Porsche is currently the world's largest race car manufacturer.” I think that pretty much speaks for itself.
If you’re looking to drive a coupe that is seriously entertaining and performs at the drop of a tie, here’s where you should begin your quest. These guys are engaging and, at the end of the day, well worth to long hours at work of saving up. Let loose on the windy back roads and never let the comfort seduce you from driving defensively.
Mazda’s 2-Door Convertible Coupe is Here to Stay
by Walt E. Ingalls
(April 2nd, 2015)
Today I turned my focus from listing cars that set certain criteria to an article that features one make; an affordable exception to the norm. With it, I was able to pull reports on the fourth-generation Mazda Miata—the MX-5.
Besides being a reasonable price, this car has had some recent modifications in its used materials; a sort of re-engineering that could cause me to wonder where they found the ability to produce it without increasing the price dramatically. I can only imagine these efforts are a combined product of the discontinuance of the RX-7, thus implementing it’s Designers focus on the MX-5, AND the pure reasoning of wanting to take a dramatic and drastic step in seriously competing in the sports car arena.
So far, what I’ve been able to determine is, it’s lower, more fierce, and doesn’t skip a beat on the interior—so as the rest of the sports car world has been advancing to get more ‘cutting edge’ as far as the user-friendly comfort, Mazda, though a small company in the wide-realm of Automakers, is seriously ready to contribute with it’s sure eye-opener, the Miata MX-5.
Let’s get the black and white established, though this next generation Miata has implemented more aluminum than ever in its frame, body and chassis, it’s less than $1,000 more expensive than its previous generation, expected to be priced around $26-thousand. Not only this, it has gone from a 5-speed manual transmission to a 6-speed and when it never before included the user-friendly options like USB-port audio input and leather-wrapped shift, it now has both and LED headlamps.
The styling seems to advance to a roadster of F-Type proportions, clean lines, curvaceous styling and larger dark wheels. It’s a full-fledged accommodation to the wide-eyed enthusiast, keeping its glory-day impressions of fonder memories of its younger late 90’s, from when it debuted it’s first-generation.
Those times have come to pass, and lead to this very moment, where, for under $30,000, you too can live in the fast-lane, wind in hair, hands on the wheel, cruising in the high-back bucket seats that give you both the feeling of the road, and the arcade-racing envisage.
Enjoy this car, and I do mean enjoy, for you’ll be cutting more than pennies with its 4-cyl, fuel efficiency, you’ll be zigging and zagging, with the rest of the car-loving 13 year-olds living their very dreams to the max.
2015 Family Cars Under $30,000 by Walt E. Ingalls
(April 6th, 2015)
When it comes to a family car, your car must be four things; spacious, safe, economical and dependable. Seeing as the primary need for a family car is children, it must be safe, and in this selection, safety is a major key, as all the automobiles listed here have reached a score of “Top Safety Rating” on the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety).
A family car should not only have a collision score that ensures the safety of the occupants, it should also be nimble enough for the driver to be able to avoid compromise; quick enough to merge on the highway and get up to speed, and also be agile enough to complete sharp directional maneuvers.
At $22,400, the Ford Fusion has snuck in some attractive styling while the majority of us were looking elsewhere. The Fusion is sporty, comfortable, spacious, engaging, and well deserving. Hybrid and All-wheel drive models are available, as are two engine sizes; 175 hp and 240 hp.
Starting at $21,545, the Mazda CX-5 offers a 2.0L inline 4 that delivers 155 hp as well as a 184 hp 2.5L, either may be mated with front-wheel or all-wheel drives. With front wheel drive and manual transmission, the CX-5 delivers 26 city/35 highway mpg with its 2.0L engine. The automatic V6 engine with all-wheel drive delivers 24 city/30 highway mpg.
Starting at $23,340 is the Chevrolet Malibu, with a 4-cyl 2.5L, delivering 196 hp to the front wheels by a 6-speed automatic. The car is moderate to strong as far as economically, reserving a mileage of 25 city/36 highway. The Malibu has a nice sense of styling, though limited leg-room in the back seat, which should keep the younger children within reach of people in the front seats. The Malibu provides plenty of power and it also has a rather spacious trunk.
Base priced at $24,440 is another Chevrolet, the SUV Crossover Equinox. Stylish, comfortable, smooth and quiet, this car has a sliding second row of seating, making it comfortable and spacious for even teen-agers. The Equinox seems to be the practical choice for families that have athletically active children, as what you cannot put inside, you can tow. The Equinox offers both a 4-cyl engine, and a V6.
If reliable was what you are looking for in a family auto, the Honda Accord could be exactly what you’re looking for. A bestseller for decades, with an excellent resale value, the $29,155 Accord comes well equipped, not only with rear-view camera, blind spot monitoring, and dual-zone climate, the hybrid will keep your fuel usage nearer to your ideals. The 196 hp engine feeds the front wheels through its continuously variable transmission.
At $24,895, the Subaru Outback continues to lead the crossover SUV relationship with a station wagon, as this car is not shy to either grocery trips or off-road camping. The Outback is powered by either a 2.5L horizontally-opposed 4-cyl with 173 hp, or a 3.6L 256 hp V6, both run through all-wheel drive.
2015 Honest Lincoln by Walt E. Ingalls
(April 15th, 2015)
I have recently found myself rather attracted to the Lincoln line of automobiles. I don’t believe it’s near ready to compete with the interior quality or performance of a Cadillac—or any of the German leaders; however, as an eye catching night-rider, the styling has me looking twice...three times.
One of the other strengths is, Lincoln is a division of Ford, and though they may have their own plans lingering to spin off completely, the simple fact is, the lasting quality people have for long now sworn by in a Ford, for the most, is in every pulsing heartbeat of the Lincoln, and while Volkswagen for quite some time has found a way to utilize the same box of parts to fashion such an array and variety of different autos, it appears that that is the over-all plans of Ford Motor Corp as well.
While a fair amount of changes do surely exist, the Lincoln MKC is ever so similar to the Ford Escape, utilizing the same skeletal system, whereas the same fundamental similarities there do exist between the Focus and the MKZ.
Besides styling, there are a few things that may separate Lincoln from Ford for you as well, one being every 2015 Lincoln comes in automatic transmission only.
Remember the days that if you were interested in getting from point A to B in a straight line ASAP, you where more likely to do so in a ‘stick shift’? Well, as race cars have proven that automatic transmission engineering has made it impossible to win with a stick, so gone are those days, as should be the cliché of the manual being faster.
One simple fact there does exist, which is quite contrary to a vested appeal with Lincoln, this being the interior quality leaves for lacking feelings. The materials used, the usable space and the challenging infotainment center leave drivers with less satisfaction as its competitors. Simply put, if a price is set similar to an Audi A4, one could lead to agree the drive, feel and quality should be comparable, which, they certainly are not.
As for a lively visual exterior option in the automotive market, the Lincoln does stand strong; though if you were hoping to be impressed or even considerably embraced back—in terms of top-notch comfort and/or executive trims pushing toward luxury, with Lincoln, expect to be left with the remains of empty feelings.
There is surely room for improvement, which leaves me at interest to see what is delivered in years to come.
