Concepts for your Lease by Walt E. Ingalls

   Many people still have a reluctance to consider leasing even when the monthly payments are often much less to lease than they are to buy. Most often they look at the fact that after the three years of leasing they don’t own the car, yet perhaps they’re not looking at the benefits, but instead focusing on their own limitations, limitations that are a product of not seeing the whole picture. At the end of the lease, drivers are given the option to purchase the vehicle they had leased.

 

   In this article we’ll have established an over-view that shows both the benefits and restrictions of leasing, and it will certainly be an asset in helping you finalize your decision.  

 

   First, if you drive 1,000 miles per month, it’s likely that you won’t want to lease, for most leases have a limitation of around 10,000-15,000 miles per year, and every mile after that will cost around $0.20 each. Second, if you have any type of customizations made to your car, you’ll most likely not want to do so with a lease, for in the leases terms you, more than likely, agreed to terms of returning the car the same way it came off the lot when you got it.

 

   Now, if you’re the type of person that enjoys learning something once and using it regularly, as you learned it, for as long as you can, then you may be the type that becomes fond of a car and keeps it until the wheels fall off. Don’t be concerned about leasing, because again, you’ll have the option at the end of the lease to buy the car and you’ll know that it won’t have any more than 30,000-45,000 miles, for that’s how many miles allowed per year, times 3 years—which 3 years is often the standard duration of a lease.

 

   By now, perhaps you’ve heard the commercials on Pandora, TV, or the radio concerning pre-owned, certified used automobiles at new-car dealerships with warrantees that are under 15,000 miles. These pre-owned certs are often lease vehicles that are traded in for a lease on another model at the same dealership, and are generally immaculate, as ending a lease prematurely is either quite costly or with a vehicle that has certainly been used very little and kept clean.  

 

   In my opinion, these are simple examples of how valuable your car can be at the end of the lease, as you could sell at prices that are competitive with the dealership, and the buy-out cost after your lease is certainly going to be less than the price of these pre-cert cars. The beauty is, either you know what the car went through and how well it was taken care of because YOU were the one driving it, or you being a private seller, do not attach the costs involved above the sticker in the window that a dealership would. 

 

   Let me remind you, just as I wrote on February 4th, if you look at buying a car and happen to want to trade it in within three years, you may get the Kelley Blue Book value, leaving you with something like 1/2 the sticker price; which is a rather expensive 3 years that didn't really save you anything in terms of the long-term equity you may have envisioned when you bought the car, where as a 3 year lease will only be about 1/3 of the sticker value of the new car.

 

   The terms in your lease will establish the buy-out price, which, as a standard, is the original price of the car minus the amount of your lease payments total. Considering the dealer doesn’t lose money and you have the option to either purchase with cash or finance the remainder of the car’s original cost, as in the buy-out terms stated in the original lease agreement, you’ve basically agreed to test drive the car for 3 years, within the mileage limitation terms, or if you opt to buy-out the auto after the lease, the mileage total has no recourse or penalty.

 

   That’s one of the secrets you may want to keep in mind, if your car shows considerably high mileage over the lease terms, you may want to buy-out the car and sell the car privately after the lease, to cover the $2.00 per 10 mile average fees. Think about it, it’s $200 every 1,000 miles over, so if you’re only a trip from Los Angeles to Denver over, it will cost you just about what it costs to rent a car for that 900+ mile excursion.

2015 Releases New Models and Plenty of Make-Overs

   If you’re one of the many that like to be the first to have the latest products, 2015 might just be your year to buy a new car.

 

   Listed below are some cars that are just now, newly introduced to us, as well as, some that are mainstays that show very promising  changes and concepts for the future.

 

   If you’re anything like me, you’re going to enjoy these automobiles, as it isn’t only about getting from point A to point B, automobiles are much more, they are advances in comfort, efficiency and technology.

 

   Chevy and GMC are looking to shift their intended demography for their line of medium duty trucks, the GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado is seeking an even younger audience. In addition, the Ford F-150 will be going through a weight-loss, implementing aluminum in the engineering to cut back some mileage, making for a more fuel-efficient full-duty truck.

Besides trucks, the sedan and 4-door market is offering some true crowd pleasers, as the Hyundia Genesis offers, for the first time, an all-wheel drive model in addition to their line of rear-wheel driven cars.

 

   The Chrysler 200 mid-sized sedan line will be showing us a variety to choose from, while Subaru is repackaging their Legacy in a surprisingly new way.

 

   As far as economy, the Nissan Versa Note SR and Honda Fit will deliver new packages offering their buyers advancements from before.

 

   Note that changes will be steadily rolling out throughout the year, including the performance autos such as BMW, introducing their M3 and M4 sedan/coupe duo, Volkswagen brings back their Golf R rediscovered in new trims and familiar performance, while Jaguar introduces a new F-Type coupe. Mini re-vamps the Cooper, while Lexus delivers a head-turning RC-F coupe, and Subaru launches an all-new WRX and WRX STI.

2016 will show us all-new subcompact SUV models from Mazda and Honda, while Acura NSX reveals a car with a rather different direction than ever before.

 

   Soon to come, Audi A3 will deliver 300 hp with its wonderful road-gripping Quattro, as the Cadillac ATS-V will pack a womping 420 hp in its V6.

 

   Cadillac Escalade is delivering a refocused interior that brings luxury to a new definition, while all Ford Mustang models will get independent rear-suspension.

 

   Jaguar plans to compete with tremendous force against BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 with their XS Sedan, while Mercedes-Benz wields its wildly popular CLA C-Class.

 

   Lincoln MKC plans the 6-speed EcoBoost 4 mated with an all-wheel drive option.

 

   Tesla has plans of offering us their SUV, the Model X.

 

   Nissan offers a V6 Titan, as well as a 5.0L V8 Cummings Diesel.

 

   All and all, this year will reveal to us a number of new choices, keeping the car market fresh and on top with new models and great styling. 

Current Buys on Want and Less Need

   There are several things market analysts take into account when studying the health and virility of the automobile market. One of those elements is surveys, and this year analysts have been able to deduce that the market is rather strong by surveying buyers. 

 

   These surveys were able to provide information as to the process the buyers take, which more than half were able to research their car in advance then set a price that they felt was sufficient. This basically tells us, first, these buyers are responsible in the sense of planning ahead. It also tells us that there is a moderate financial freedom, as you may consider an improvement in economy—thereby suggesting that buyers are not nearly as “strapped for cash” as they were in recent years.

 

   AutoTrader.com held a survey they call the 2015 Automotive Buyer Influence Study, where 61 percent of recent new car buyers report that they purchased their latest vehicle due to a want and not need.

Fairly straight forward, as the report states it wasn’t an unforeseen circumstance, but instead, an elected one, which is a good sign of economic strength, for I’m rather certain you’re in agreement as well that a car purchase is not a small decision nor a small purchase.

 

   This clearly shows more confidence in financial based decisions.

When shoppers begin the new car acquisitions process, they more often don’t have a particular car in mind, and more than half of the buyers actually decide on the Make and Model after they decide to research and purchase their automobile.

 

   According to this 2015 study, to help them make their decision, three-quarters of buyers utilize the internet in their decision-making process and by the time they visit the dealership they’ve already decided on the car that they want.

4 Tightest Turning Sedans by Walt E. Ingalls

   Your car's turning radius is considered the diameter of the smallest circle it's capable of making when turning the wheel all the way as it moves forward.    

     

   A lot of us are interested in how easy it is to parallel park our automobile, and that, besides U-turns, is the main reason a tight turning radius is so valuable. Sometimes, it’s more advantageous to have a longer car that turns sharper than a smaller car that doesn’t, and though in the eyes of a tight parking space, they may be able to both manage the space, the longer car, obviously has more storage and interior room, so you get one bonus and the same parking outcome.

 

   Another thing about a sedan that out weighs the compact is driving quality, and a tighter radius definitely contributes to maneuverability.

 

   Now, I won’t be listing all of the cars that have the most minimal turning radius, but instead 4 of the automobiles that most closely appeal to my particular tastes, and yes, I’ll keep them in order from the tightest to the largest radius.

 

Tightest 1) 2014 Lexus IS F Sedan – Turning circle: 33.5 feet
Tightest 2) 2014 Lexus IS 350 Sedan – Turning circle: 34.2 feet
Tightest 3) 2014 Mazda 3 Sedan – Turning circle: 34.8 feet
Tightest 4) 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan – Turning circle: 34.8 feet

 

   So far as performance, the Lexus IS 350 and the IS 350 will be the front-runners, and at a matter of expense, the Subaru and Mazda will have the lowest cost.

 

    As far as other information regarding the four models, the Lexus IS F gets a mileage of 16/23 mpg, priced at $64,525 with an 8-speed shiftable automatic V8 and is rear wheel drive.    If you’re looking to get a 2015 Hybrid SUV, there are a few Models that you’re probably already thinking about. Here, I’ve listed a few that you should consider, whether for buying or leasing, you’re likely to have a few questions. Hopefully I can ascertain them and help you narrow down your selection.

 

   First, for style and power, I present to you the 2015 Audi Q7 3.0T Premium, a 3.0L V-6 with 240hp, turbo charged with 4-wheel anti-lock breaks, side seat mounted airbags with 1st, 2nd and 3rd row overhead/curtain SIDEGUARD airbags, 8-speed automatic transmission, standard 19” aluminum rims, driveline traction control Quattro all-wheel drive, closing the gap with 16/22 mpg. (3.0 TDI Premium accomplishes 19/28 mpg). Audi is offering these Models as MSRPs from $48,300 - $61,900.

 

    Next, I present to you the 2015 BMW X5 which has an inline 6 3.0L with an output of 255hp with it’s twin turbo, 8-speed automatic, 4 wheel ABS, integrated nav system, side seat mounted airbags, 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, 18” aluminum wheels and driveline traction control. The MSRP range begins at $53,900 and goes on up to the xDrive35d AWD Model price with full trim package at $70,100. Mpg 18/27. 


   As you should know, a safe offer that is most always found agreeable at the dealership is an offer of 6.5-7% below the MSRP. With www.DealerPinch.com, there’s no reason to think you can’t aim for a savings of a little above and beyond. It never hurts to try an 8% savings.

Porsche is already extending the 2016 Model Cayenne priced from an MSRP of $58,300 -$95,500.    The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg is a safe bet with a similar, if not mostly the same, engine as the Porsche and Q7 3.0 T Premium; 3.0L V-6 240hp 

intercooled turbo with an 8-speed automatic that offers overdrive and all wheel ABS. The Touareg has side seat mounted airbags with 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags and an integrated navigation system and standard 18” aluminum rims. Touareg offers a TDI Executive Model also, all with MSRP from 44,705 - $62,200 that fall into the mpg of 17/23 (TDI 20/29).  

 

   The Yukon by GMC has gotten a facelift; it’s totally redesigned for 2015, with a powerful 420hp EcoTec3 6.2L V-8 with an 8-speed automatic including overdrive, 4 wheel ABS, an integrated navigation system, side seat mounted airbags with 1st, 2nd and 3rd row airbags, 20” aluminum rims and driveline traction control. The Yukon also offers a few packages for this Model, besides the standard is the XL (20 inches longer), Yukon offers an SLE, upscale SLT and luxurious Denali (engine package disclosed above). The SLE and SLT offer a 5.3L V-8 that provides 355hp. Both engines include Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The SLE and SLT Models accomplish 18 mpg whether rear-wheel or four wheel driven. The MSRP range for the Yukon is $47,740 - $67,520. 

 

   Also completely redesigned, the Cadillac Escalade ESV, though with different and more luxurious trims than the Yukon, offers the same engine at the Denali; a powerful 420hp EcoTec3 6.2L V-8 with an 8-speed automatic including overdrive, 4 wheel ABS, an integrated navigation system, side seat mounted airbags with 1st, 2nd and 3rd row airbags, 20” aluminum rims and driveline traction control. Cadillac meets a higher standard as far as materials, comfort, safety and technology. Priced from $75,970 - $94,875 MSRP.  

 

   With MSRP ranging from $115,400 - $137,150, the 12/15 mpg , 4-door, 5-seat G-Class Mercedes Benz is a certain head-turner. Both the G63 AMG and the G550 are equipped with a standard 5.5L, 8-cylinder, 536hp twin turbo with a 7-speed automatic transmission, integrated navigation system, 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, BabySmart airbag child-seat sensor, 20” aluminum wheel rims, DISTRONIC PLUS distance pacing, ABS and driveline traction control with all-wheel drive. 

 

 

   The 2015 Land Rover Range Rove Sport is my next to last option in this Article, powered by a 5.0L V-8 510hp, 8-speed automatic, intercooled supercharger, 4 wheel ABS, integrated navigation system, side seat mounted airbags, curtain 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, driveline traction control and 20” aluminum wheels. 17/22 mpg, $63,350 - $110,475 MSRP. The 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a 4-door, 5-seat Sport Utility, available in 5 trims, ranging from the 3.0L V6 SE to the 5.0L SVR. 

 

   Finally, the best buy in my opinion, the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 470hp HEMI 6.4L V-8, 8-speed automatic with overdrive, 4-wheel ABS, integrated navigation system, side seat mounted airbags, curtain 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, drive knee airbag, 20” forged aluminum wheel rims, Selec-Trac ABS and driveline traction control. 17/25 mpg, MSRP of $29,995 - $64,595. Active Noise Cancelation is added to this version, too, and the SRT is offered as a new Red Vapor Special Edition model.
